Hunger Task Force is an anti-hunger public policy non-profit based in Milwaukee, WI. Hunger Task Force created The Farm in 2012 for the express purpose of growing healthy, fresh food to feed hungry people. Low-income seniors, families and children throughout Milwaukee County can rely on The Farm to deliver access to hundreds of thousands of pounds of Farm-grown fruits and vegetables each growing season. The Farm also provides a robust nutrition education program for low-income youth, manages natural areas restoration efforts throughout the property, maintains a functional fish hatchery for Milwaukee County, and manages multiple honeybee hives to provide pollination, honey and visitor education. A valuable community asset, The Farm is designated as protected Milwaukee County park land to 'remain free from development' through the terms of a 30-year lease agreement with Milwaukee County.
The Hunger Task Force Farm's honey is made from seasonal tree and other flower sources, most resembling a wildflower flavor. Our bees are pollinating some 75 acres of fruit and vegetable crops on The Farm's 208 acres. We usually have 4 active bee yards with a couple hives each, sometimes even an educational observation hive for student group education. Our honey is light, sweet and floral while possessing a rich flavor.
